A couple of weeks ago, we formally relaunched the Nakate website! It's a total departure from the previous look and feel [spring 2012 | fall 2011] - with a more user friendly interface and integrated store.
Shanley, Nakate founder and CEO, wanted the website to have a clean look and feel, one that was high end yet fashion forward. We found inspiration in uncommon places, such as websites for men's accessories, for our women's jewelry and accessory lines.
What spoke to me looking through Shanley's inspiration photos and websites for reference was the simplicity, pop of color (hello, coral!), and grid-like structure. We pieced these inspirations together to create the new look for Nakate for the Summer 2012 launch. Included in the update of the website was a new, simple and straightforward NAKATE brand logo. Simple, refined, classic, yet fun.
We paired the clean look and feel with some dramatic photography captured by Stephanie Parkinson which gave the website a cultural reference and interesting focal point.
Major kudos go to Ethan Hackett who coded and did all the back-end work on the site! Thanks for bearing with my craziness, Ethan!
We also, like any good re-brand, updated Nakate's Twitter and Facebook pages to align with the website. There's nothing that I love more in design than cohesiveness.
I am SO honored to be apart of Nakate and help with creating a design to bring awareness to this amazing cause. Go check out the website and let me know what you think!
