This past weekend was the fabulous event, Creative Connection LA. A bunch of us creative women met up at Upper West in Santa Monica to mix and mingle. It was such an inspiring time connecting with such talented ladies, I doubt that even one of us left without a bit of inspiration. The event began with Elise Ostermann desiring to have a space for women to come together, inspire, and encourage eachother. In it's third month, the attendee list has grown to over 50 at this most recent event, inspired offshoots across the country - Portland, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Diego among many more! - and left it's impression in the online community.
I was so graciously asked to be the featured artist for July's event. It was my job to create the paper goods for the event - welcome signs, name tags, sign-in sheets, and calling card holders. I had such a fun time conceptualizing and executing the design. I wanted to play off the industrial New York feel of the restaurant. I chose a old school slanted font and paired it with a burnt orange background to be the main jumping off point. For the name tags, I got the cutest orange binder clips over at Office depot. These binder clips held together the name tag, printed on vellum, and brown chip board to make them multi dimensional and totally not boring. The binder clips were also perfect for threading bakers twine through to make the cutest lanyard. Emilee and her hubby created this incredible board fitted with nails to hold said name tags! Love love love.
The sign in sheets were also printed on a white vellum to tie everything together. I was so pleased with how everything turned out!!
More than anything, I'm more pleased with the event and the connections it made. Not only for myself, but for all those that came. I believe that this is the beginning of a huge movement for women to gather together and inspire each other in their own endeavors. Take a look at that first image again... and now the one below. Inspired yet? Good. Come join us next month (through our Facebook page) or find one close to you!
Thanks to all the beautiful ladies that came and to all who made this event go on without a hitch - Elise, Emilee, and Becca! I can't wait to see what the future holds for Creative Connection LA and USA!
